The Alameda Art Works Fall Open Studio and Benefit for Sacred Heart Community Services was a great success!!

Over 400 people visited the Alameda Art Works during our two day Open Studios Nov 7 and 8.

Our guests looked through the many open studios, viewed the beautiful main hall art show, listened to wonderful live music and munched on great food. Over 30 Artists showed their work. We gave away 18 pieces of art in our free Raffle. And best of all, we donated over $1400, to Sacred Heart Community Services!!!

History

First built as a Municipal Auditorium the atrium building that is now The Alameda Artworks Studios was originally the site of San Jose municipal meetings, conferences, theatrical and musical performances. Since then, it has gone through several transformations.

The building is also fondly remembered by some San Jose residents as the Auditorium Roller Rink. The beautifully refinished hardwood gallery floor is the original surface on which San Jose skaters happily whirled.

Most recently it was purchased by Mr. Falko Forbrich, whose patronage of San Jose artists has made it a home for artists working in many mediums.
