Please join us in celebrating Women Artists in the Greater South Bay Community throughout the month of March and especially the weekend of March 26 – 28, SWAN DAY 2010 at the following locations:

Opening Night Reception and art exhibition at The Alameda Artworks, host venue and second-year presenter of SWAN Day: Refreshments & program.

Friday, March 26th - 6 – 8 pm:

SWAN Day Global Electronic Studio Exchange – Pat Johnson creates an international project that demonstrates the SWAN Day theme and connectivity. Artists worldwide respond to each other’s faxed imagery based on the theme: Tenacity, Guts & Grace: Women Artists Who Have Inspired Us.” Find details on how to participate: www.thealamedaartworks.com

Artist-Themed workshops specially created for SWAN Day and conducted by outstanding facilitators in collaboration with San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles www.sjquiltmuseum.org : all free of charge, courtesy of a private grant, except $5-$8 charge to enter the Museum. 520 So. Due to a family emergency, Kate Evans, origianlly scheduled to conduct a workshop on March 27th at the San Jose Quilt and Textiles from 10am -1pm, is unable to the there. However, we are very fortunate to have quilt artist and poet, Joan Schulze, who is currently on exhibit in the main gallery of the quilt museum conducting an alternative event sharing some insights into her creative proccess. Saturday and Sunday, March 27 & 28, 10 am – 5 pm: Bead Pens-Glass Bead making
The Art Glass Center of San Jose. Try your hand at torchworking in this 30 minute introduction to hot glass work. You will be creating glass beads that will be assembled into a writng pen.

Closing Night Reception and showing of film, Who Does She Think She is? Sponsored by the SBAWCA at The Alameda Artworks, 1068 The Alameda, San Jose. Refreshments. No charge; no reservations needed. Artist pick up of exhibited artwork.
