The Women of the Alameda Art Works present a call for entries for the Exhibition “Tenacity, Guts & Grace” at the Alameda Artworks from March 26-28, 2010. The exhibition will coincide with SWAN Days (Support Women Artists Now!), a three-day event to encourage the community to recognize and support women artists.

Entries for this year's exhibition “Tenacity, Guts & Grace” will include two parts: a written biography of a woman artist of the past and how this woman artist inspired you to create a work of art. Part two is a two or three dimensional artwork created using this woman artist as an inspiration. Use the checklist below to deliver both parts of the entries to the Alameda Artworks at 1068 The Alameda, San Jose, CA 95126.

ARTIST ENTRY CHECKLIST

• Write a short biography of the woman artist who inspired you to create this artwork. How did this artist affect the art community of their time? How do they inspire you? (1 page or less than 300 words, typed in 12pt font, double spaced). Attach essay to the back of this application.

• Create an artwork as an homage to the artist profiled above. Two and three dimensional artworks will be accepted. No artwork can exceed 6 feet by 4 feet. Painting, sculpture, kinetic, film and mixed media artwork will all considered.

• Artwork must come ready to install . Must have all hanging supplies included.

• Include a one page artist resumé and a printed photograph of yourself with this application.

• Drop off Application and art submissions at Alameda Artworks, 1068 The Alameda, San Jose 95126:

• Pick up artwork from Alameda Artworks at closing Reception:
